Members of the trumplickan party (formerly republicans) are fond of making the assertion that America isn't a democracy, but a republic. I decided to look up the definitions of both words, and came across the following:
Is the United States a democracy or a republic?
The United States is both a democracy and a republic. Democracies and republics are both forms of government in which supreme power resides in the citizens. The word republic refers specifically to a government in which those citizens elect representatives who govern according to the law. The word democracy can refer to this same kind of representational government, or it can refer instead to what is also called a direct democracy, in which the citizens themselves participate in the act of governing directly.
So if one of those MAGA morons pulls this assertion out of his (or her) butt, give 'em the GFY and GTFO treatment, because simply explaining the facts to an idiot who thinks Waste of Shit #1 was a great precedent (sic) is pointless.
A tale of two broads in today's headlines: Clearance's old lady, Virginia Thomas, appeared before the House J6 Committee today, but nothing significant seems to have been accomplished. It would be fun to see both Clearance and Ginni behind bars someday. One of the leading contenders for the Waste of Shit #4 position is Empty Greene, whose old man has apparently had enough of her lame crap and is seeking a divorce. What kind of guy would've married her in the first place?
