The news media won't report on the DOJ investigation and potential prosecution of Donnie Donuts without using the word "unprecedented." Use of the word is intended to imply some uncertainty in the legal process that's underway in Washington DC (and actually in New York and Georgia, too).
As is well-known, the news media (print, broadcast, and electronic) see a commercial advantage in promoting at least the suggestion that Donuts might very well scoot through this minefield with a clear path to a second term in 2024. But the point is that this situation is unprecedented only because the United States has never before had a president
- whose only real success in life was as the host of a TV reality game show.
- who had no prior political or significant military leadership experience
- whose election was made possible through collusion with the Russian government
- who spent his only term in office facilitating the foreign policy agenda of the Russian government
- who was almost totally ignorant about the operations of the federal government
- with a history of business failure, fraudulent practices, abusive sexual behavior, and failed marriages
- who was a narcissistic sociopath, concerned only with ego gratification and self-interest
- who was impeached twice in his first and only term, but escaped removal from office due to a corrupt Republican majority in the Senate
- who took advantage of every opportunity to abuse his office for personal financial enrichment
- who was lazy, ignorant, incompetent, corrupt, and a chronic liar (in addition to his mental instability and personality disorders)
- who lost the popular vote in consecutive elections
- who committed crimes before his election, while he was in office, and after his defeat
