The first full day of the post-Cheez Doodle experience, and I still have that sense of an enormous burden having been removed from my life. I read an article in USA TODAY about the damage that's been done to Cheez Doodle's "brand" (mostly by Cheezy himself). In my latest fantasy, I'm out on my daily walk and I approach a fat, shabbily-dressed, unwashed vagrant sitting on the curb, sobbing quietly. As I pass him, he looks up and says, "I had it all, the best of everything." I recognize that unmistakable voice, and although the hairdo and orange makeup are gone, there's no doubt who this bum is.
I reply "Tough shit, motherfucker" - then I spit on him, and walk on by.
There's a report at Crooks & Liars about the pathetic turnout for pro-Cheezy inauguration day protest rallies in the state capitols. Imagine being that one guy who showed up, thinking he'd be joining a crowd of several thousand, then standing there alone with his banner. That's a textbook example of epic fail.
Joe started his first day as president being critical of white supremacy and domestic terrorism. Now the usual right-wing dipshits (e.g. Rand Paul) are getting all pissy because they believe he was attacking them personally. It's therefore being noted by some liberal blogs that if you think Joe is attacking you personally when he says "Eating shit is bad", then you've pretty much identified yourself as a shit-eater. Smooth move, Rand.
Moscow Mitch has not yet adjusted to the fact that he isn't the ultimate authority in the Senate any more. If he wanted to be respected as minority leader, he should have earned it by adhering to traditional norms when he was majority leader. If he had, Gorsucks wouldn't be a Supreme Court justice now, but Garland would be. Hey, Mitch, pig out on a big bucket of GFY.
It's highly entertaining to read online comments posted by idiots who spent 2-3 years obsessing over insane right-wing conspiracy theories, and now suddenly realize their lives are ruined.
Daily Kos on the burning issue of the day: Will the (R) Party be able to resolve its Cheez Doodle problem? At the moment, the party seems to include three main segments:
First, there's a fairly small group that recognized the danger from the moment Cheez announced he would run for the (R) nomination in 2016, and some of them helped Joe and Kamala win in November. The Lincoln Project is a Group 1 collective.
Second, there's a larger group of diehard MAGA loyalists who actually believe stupid shit like Cheezy was chosen by god, or Cheezy is a business wizard with the solutions to every problem the nation faces. Group 2 people will put up with all kinds of crap, and make every conceivable excuse to rationalize their faith in him.
Then, there's a third group that tries to have it both ways: They don't like Cheezy, but pretend they do because they're afraid of the people in the second group (whose votes they need to stay in power). As of today, Rep. Kevin McCarthy seems to be a good example of a typical Group 3 member.
There's a fourth group, the Cheez Doodle Diddlers, essentially huge cult of losers who worship Cheezy as an individual and turn out to vote for him, but basically don't give a flying fuck about the (R) Party otherwise. A lot of these people can be found wherever a mob riot is forming, carrying firearms and trying for the paramilitary look.
If Cheezy really is able to organize his Patriot Party (highly doubtful), how do the three (R) groups respond? Forget the assholes in Group 4, who are Cheezy followers rather than (R) Party followers.
