Q. Notes, Day 185

I've read it in several places, so I tend to believe it's true: If Americans would wear face masks in public, and practice social distancing, we'd probably see a substantial reduction in COVID infections in a reasonably short period of time. I'm around the house or in the neighborhood most of the time, but I do go shopping at least twice a week, occasionally as many as four times. I've been very impressed by the customers at Walmart, where I shop at least once every week, twice some weeks. The last 5-6 times I've been in a Walmart store, I've seen a total of three people who were w/o masks, and two more who had pulled down their masks to talk on their phones. I was able to keep at least 10-12 feet of separation between me and them. The mask participation rate in every store I've been in since July has been nearly 100 percent.

The beauty of masks is that they protect ME from catching it, and prevents THEM from spreading it - and vice versa.

I'm so thankful that we've now established that anyone can ignore a subpoena from a congressional committee any time for any reason, and there won't be any consequences. So Senator Ron Johnson can go take a flying fuck at a rolling doughnut with his mischief.

Charlie Cook says that, for many voters, this cake is baked. To be candid, I have a really hard time visualizing a scenario that would cause Cheezy's approval rating to improve by ten points or more in the next 50 days. He is what he is, and he isn't crafty enough to trick that many people into believing he really has been miraculously transformed into an effective president and a decent human being.
