Horse Manure

"The most powerful special interests in America today are the government unions,"  (Mitch) Daniels told NPR's Diane Rehm this week. (Quotation courtesy of Talking Points Memo)

Mitch Daniels is governor of Iowa and sympathizes with Wisconsin's governor, Scott Walker. This remark is the kind of fucking nonsense Republicans say all the time, and the goddamned news media people let them get away with it. And this being America, half the people will believe it after they hear it on TV a few times. I have yet to see Congress or the White House contemplating a federal bailout of a public employee union, or approving massive annual subsidies comparable to those handed over to the agricultural monoliths.

Dedicated to Jim Ferguson. If you don't know who Jim Ferguson is, you (a) haven't seen The Missouri Breaks, or (b) have an inadequate ability to fully assimilate movie trivia.
